Church Basics

How we understand the church to operate….

The Church is described in the Bible as the household of faith, the Temple of the Spirit, the Bride of Christ, Christ's Body, and as God's People. As a local expression of God's people, we at New Covenant value the church highly and realize that she is made up of imperfect people who are walking out faith together. As such, God uses relationship as a tool to bring us together and to help us better represent Him. That brings unlikely people together and is a blessing. It also means that sometimes the church messes up. When this happens we should be quick to repent and seek restoration because we value each other as belonging to the Lord.

In Matthew 22:36–39 a lawyer asks Jesus a question saying, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he [Jesus] said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

This if often called the "Royal Commandment" and is the basis for our motto:

Love Jesus / Love People

We do this by proclaiming the way to God, walking out the truth of the Bible, and maturing together through life in and for Jesus.

God calls us to join together in unity in order to demonstrate His Kingdom through our daily love for one another. Consider what the Bible tells us about the Church's interactions one to another:

We try to embrace this way of living at NCC to live out the Lord's instructions through the Bible.
