Africa
It was Bryn Jones, a father to us at New Covenant Church, who opened the door to this great continent for us in the mid 1980's. Robert Moffat, the nineteenth century African explorer, said of the area where we now minister in Zambia: "In the vast plain to the north I have sometimes seen, in the morning sun, the smoke of a thousand villages where no missionary has ever been." His words inspired David Livingstone who became an explorer and missionary to the same region. Now the gospel is reaching out to this beautiful area once more.
Our work is not simply humanitarian in nature, we are ministers of reconciliation, bringing Christ and all his fullness to these wonderful people. Through the equiping of local leaders by Covenant Leadership Training Institute and the ministry of Living Hope International to impoverished families, both founded and supported from New Covenant Church, we are serving king Jesus to fulfill His mandate of restoration.
Church Planting
Jesus commands the church to disciple the nations and teach them his ways (Matt 28:18-20). This strategy to extend the dominion of the Lord Jesus Christ to all the earth requires more than evangelism to transform the nations; leaders must be trained.
Covenant Leadership Training Institute (CLTI) began as a discipleship program in Africa in 1996 and it is now based in Livingstone, Zambia. CLTI is dedicated to train local Elders and Ministries in the body of Christ to think biblically, speak boldly and act responsibly. We house students for six months in the CLTI facility in Livingstone, here they receive teaching from instructors who are committed to a reformed theology, a fully developed pneumatology and a victorious eschatology. The graduating students return to their own villages and homes to plant churches and to minister to their own people.
CLTI was founded by Dr. Steven J. Ottolini (Ph.D Trinity Seminary, 2005) who remains the president and regularly visits to teach and oversee the program. Your faithful giving enables this ministry to continue, thank you to those of you who have partnered with us in the training of leaders in central Africa.
Soli Deo Gloria, to God alone be the glory.
Child Sponsorship
Linda Community School is located in the heart of Africa amongst some of Zambia's poorest people. Many of the children who attend are either 'single' or 'double' orphans. This means that they have either lost one or both of their parents due to the AIDS epidemic.
Living Hope International, our non profit organization from New Covenant Church here in St Louis, is compassionately serving these forgotten children by providing food, clothing and health check-ups. Through education in academics, hygiene and health their despair is being transformed into hope.
This is a letter from our Living Hope Representative in Livingstone, Zambia, Gilford Kasota.
"Greetings friends, my name is Gilford Kasota, I work with one of the community schools in Livingstone called Linda community school, I teach the children the word of God, salvation in Jesus Christ and response is very good, I also minister to parents who are most vulnerable because the community is full of people who are really poor. Through the ministry of Living Hope we are trying to help educate their children, we also buy school materials for teachers and we support teachers with an allowance each month. I really enjoy working with the community seeing what God is doing."
You too can become a partner with us in giving, you can commit to our dollar-a-day program or a one time gift. Your child sponsorship of $27 per month will cover a great amount: books, school supplies, clothing (new shirt with pants for boys, skirts for girls), and your sponsorship provides one school meal per day for all the children. 100 per cent or your donation goes directly to Africa to educate and promote the general health and well-being of vulnerable children. Please contact us directly for more information.
If you are already a partner with us thank you once more for standing with us in faith, through your giving Living Hope International is making a difference, one life at a time.
